casualties
By January 31, 1943, more than 90,000 of the surviving Germans had surrendered. The Germans had lost about 330,000 troops at the Battle of Stalingrad. The Soviets losses were unknown, but had ranged as high as a loss of 1,100,000 troops. And many more soldiers had died from frostbite, disease, and starvation than by the bullets shot at them by the enemy.
Outcomes
The Battle of Stalingrad created a turning point in the east. The Soviets began regaining territory that was lost to the Germans before. Also, this battle helped Stalin push the Soviet invasion back towards western Europe.
